Otto Schmidt among the finalists of the 49th edition of the Annie Awards

Otto Schmidt is among the nominees of the prestigious Annie Awards for animation, “Best Character Design TV / Media” category, with the film Batman The Long Halloween Part One (Warner Bros Animation).

The Annie Awards, now in their 49th edition and considered the Oscars of animated cinema, announced on December 21st the nominees in the various categories.

Russian artist Otto Schmidt, represented by the Tomatofarm / Watermark Rights agency, is among the five candidates for the Best Character Design TV Media category, thanks to his work on the Warner Bros animated feature Batman The Long Halloween Part One.

Otto Schmidt, born in Omsk, Siberia, in 1972, worked in Moscow in advertising and animation before pursuing a career as a cartoonist. His most successful works include the Green Arrow series for DC Comics (2016) and Hawkeye for Marvel Comics (2019). Since 2016 he has collaborated with Warner Bros as a character design artist. He currently lives in Malta, Europe.

The winners of the Annie Awards will be announced on February 26 at the awards ceremony held at UCLA’s Royce Hall in Los Angeles, California.
